PECATONICA, Ill. — An annual fund-raiser for the Deb’s Music Club Scholarship Program in memory of Deb Countryman will be at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington St., Pecatonica, Ill.
Guests will enjoy dinner served by the Pecatonica Methodist Women’s Club from 5 to 7 p.m. The evening program will follow the dinner.
Elaine Hayunga will provide music during dinner. A free-will offering will be collected using a large pickle jar.
Deb’s Music Club is a memorial to Deb Countryman, who passed away seven years ago. She was an accomplished performer who not only played in many of the local churches, but also conducted many Cantatas for the area.
Deb always had a “song in her heart,” and was also a member of Then and Now, Forever Friends singing group. Upon her death, her parents, Ken and Sandy Countryman, set up a fund in her memory to provide music scholarships for young people who want to learn to play piano, organ or sing in a vocal group. This fund-raiser will help to continue this program.
After the dinner, recognition of members and former members of the Pecatonica Fire Protection District will be honored, in addition to an informal recital provided by some of Deb’s Music Club members’ representative of the last five years of scholarships.
Also performing will be Seth Carlson, an organ student attending Valparaiso University. The Then and Now Forever Friends Teri Buzzard, David Buzzard, Jamie Holub and Kathy Bauling will also perform and entertain in memory of Deb.
