River City Sound Chorus places 14th in international event
BELVIDERE, Ill. — River City Sound Chorus recently traveled to Denver to participate in international competition. A total of 33 competing choruses from countries all over the world participated in the event. With 45 on stage, River City Sound, under the direction of Master Director Joan Boutilier, placed 14th with judging in four categories: sound, music, expression and showmanship. They previously competed on the international stage in Seattle in October 2010, and placed 28th.
The group will now begin preparation for regional competition in Appleton, Wis., in spring 2013. This preparation will include rehearsals, coaching sessions, fund-raisers and a membership drive.
River City Sound rehearses every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. in the Community Building Complex of Boone County, 111 W. First St., Belvidere, Ill.
