Police arrest suspects sought in Nov. 16 home invasion on Burton Street

Both suspects sought in the Nov. 16 home invasion of a residence at 1219 Burton St. have been arrested.
Mechos C. Freeman, 24, of Rockford, was arrested in the 1300 block of 27th Street shortly after 4 p.m., Nov. 23.
The other suspect, 28-year-old Nicholas M. Bryant, was taken into custody at the Public Safety Building shortly after 4 p.m., Nov. 27.
Both suspects face three counts of home invasion, one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Shortly after 8 p.m., Nov. 16, Rockford police responded to 1219 Burton St. in reference to a home invasion. While investigating the incident, officers learned the victim was shot in the leg by the suspects who were armed with firearms. During the incident, the dog inside the residence was shot and killed by the suspects. The suspects were described as three black men.
