Rockford Police Department accepting applications for police officer
The Rockford Police Department is seeking applicants for the position of police officer to work in partnership with the citizens they serve and to maintain law and order, protect members of the public and their property, prevent crime, and improve the quality of life.
The department seeks applicants who possess the ability to problem solve and achieve fair and just solutions. They welcome those with varied life experiences who reflect the diversity within our community. As first responders to every imaginable emergency, police officers face challenges and have an ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, competence and skills.
The Rockford Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of police officer. The department is seeking qualified individuals who will be committed to providing high-quality police service as a member of their accredited police agency.
An initial application can be accessed at www.rockfordil.gov/police, along with testing process information. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 12, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. This site will provide qualifications and other information for this process.
To become a Rockford police officer, the applicant will be required to participate in a detailed testing process that will include a minimum of the following tests (dates and times subject to change):
Physical Agility Test, Jan. 19; Written Exam Test, Jan. 19; Pre-Polygraph Exam, Feb. 8-10; M-Pulse Inventory Test, Feb. 16; Required Documents Due, Feb. 27; Pre-Interview Review, March 4-8; Oral Interview, March 11-15; Polygraph Test, March 18-22; Psychological Test, April 2-5; Background Investigation, April 8-29; Medical Exam/Final Physical Agility Test, April 8-28; Swearing In, April 29.
The Rockford Police Department Recruiter will be hosting six orientations for the position of police officer. The orientation will cover the entire application process. Orientations are optional and not required, but considered beneficial.
The dates and times for the orientation schedule are as follows:
Public Safety Building, Classroom A & B, 7-9 p.m., Dec. 6; YWCA, 4490 E. State St., 6-8 p.m., Dec. 18; To Be Determined (TBD), 6-8 p.m., Jan. 3; Public Safety Building, Classroom A & B, 8-10 a.m., Jan. 5, TBD, 6-8 p.m., Jan. 8; TBD, 6-8 p.m., Jan. 10.
Practice physical agility dates and times:
Public Safety Building gym, 4-6 p.m., Dec. 11, and 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Jan. 5.
