Online Staff Report
To commemorate its 90th anniversary, the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford (LWVGR) will host a breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Road.
LWVGR is a bipartisan volunteer organization that promotes informed and active citizen participation in government.
The group often holds informational meetings, voter registration drives and candidate forums. It also advocates for public policy with its most recent efforts revolving around redistricting, education and health care reform.
LWVGR locally supports the Winnebago County 2030 Land Resource Management Plan and efforts to reduce the size of the Winnebago County Board.
“I have much respect and admiration for the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford’s 90 years of civic engagement,” said State Rep. Chuck Jefferson, D-Rockford. “The group and its members work very hard to give local residents a voice in government. I want to thank them for their commitment to improving our community.”
