HOMES wins fight against Bos; still needs your help
Contributed by HOMES
HOMES (Helping Others Maintain Environmental Standards) is happy to report that we won our lawsuit Nov. 7, against A.J. Bos. The owner of the company signed a legal document promising the Illinois Attorney General’s office that he would abandon the site of the Traditions mega-dairy. According to nationwide experts, this is the first time that a facility of this size has been stopped after construction began. Everyone who supported HOMES during this long and divisive fight deserves a hearty Thank You, and a big party, so join us in Elizabeth on Dec. 18 to celebrate our hard work and well-won victory.
HOMES is continuing to be proactive on multiple fronts. We recently lobbied state senators in Springfield. We just testified in front of the Illinois Pollution Control Board. We’re considering legislation that would make a county board’s NO vote binding. After all, who better knows how to manage a county than the people who live and work on the land that would be polluted by these facilities?
While these activities haven’t required significant funds lately, we still owe our lawyers money. They have been patient, but now that we’ve won, it’s time to pay them off.
Please make a generous contribution today so that HOMES can pay off our debts, and turn our attention toward helping local farmers, rather than battling California investors. Your donation will continue to help us protect our rural communities now and for future generations.
Mail your tax-deductible contribution to: HOMES, P.O. Box 674, Warren, IL 61087 or donate online at: www.StopTheMegaDairy.org.
HOMES still has outstanding legal fees!
HOMES still needs to raise more than $3,500 to pay both current and future legal expenses. Without support from citizens like you who are committed to preserving our air, water, and communities, HOMES could never have prevented this environmental disaster. Please make a generous end-of-year tax-deductible donation to HOMES today so we can pay this debt and look toward the future. Please mail a donation check to our P.O. Box or visit us online to donate by credit card.
As we wind down our fight against the mega-dairy, HOMES is concentrating on education and promoting stronger regulations to protect our community and others from the pollution and degradation caused by industrial-scale agriculture. Read more about our work below.
