Kindergarten, Pre-K Montessori early enrollment begins

Parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten and Pre-K Montessori students are encouraged to enroll their children for the 2013-2014 school year during a special enrollment event that will take place at CherryVale Mall Dec. 13-17.

Incoming kindergarten students must turn 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2013. Pre-K Montessori students must turn 4 on or before Sept. 1, 2013.

Required enrollment documents are a certified birth certificate for the child, photo identification for the parent/guardian and two acceptable proofs of address. A list of acceptable documents can be found on the Rockford Public School District website (rps205.com).

“Enrolling early will eliminate long lines and extended wait time for parents,” said Gregg Wilson, who oversees the district’s Student Assignment Center. “Students and parents will get excited now about starting school, and early enrollment will allow the district to schedule proper school staffing for the beginning of the year.”

The special early enrollment event at CherryVale Mall will be near the Barnes & Noble bookstore during the following hours: 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Dec. 13-14; 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15; 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16; and 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17.
