One Green Thing: Everything has a website

Whether you were “green” before the color was fashionable or whether you’re just ready to find the “shade” that works best for you, here’s information about doing just “one green thing.”

You can probably figure out what this website is for: There is an e-mail circulating about some amazing things WD-40 supposedly does, so I decided to try to find out if there could be any truth to the claims.

So, once the site was reached, I punched 2,000-plus uses and was then offered the choices of:

Home and Garden, Garage/Workshop, On The Job, Farming, Auto/Motorsports/Boating, Car/Truck, Sports & Recreation, Hobby & Crafts, and Other. I selected “Other.” Here are just some of the 51 uses listed as submitted by the users of WD-40:

• Lubricates walkers for easier folding

• Dissolves glues

• Lubricates hinges of eyeglasses

• Removes stickers from piano keys

• Cleans and protects shoelace eyelets

• Cleans old coins

• Lubricates school locker latches

• Quiets squeaky piano pedals

• Lubricates end pins on cellos

• Apply on the tip of dead ball point pen to clean

• Lubricates boot zippers

• Lubricates hinges on beer steins

• Lubricates latches on saxophone case

• Removes gunk from lace hoops on work boots

• Removes stickers from Hummel figurines

• Frees stuck purse latches

• Lubricates bi-fold door locks

• Stops crutches from squeaking

• Lubricates hinges of birdcage doors

• Lubricates landing gear on model airplanes

• Lubricates robot joints

• Removes adhesive from sunglasses

• Removes corrosion on outdoor on/off switches

Think this has nothing to do with “being green”? If you can put just one product on your shelf that can handle all of these (and more), you are then buying fewer bottles, jars, cans and plastics, therefore saving resources! Check out the site for more ideas!
