Two Roscoe residents charged in alleged counterfeit movie scheme

ROSCOE, Ill. — Michelle Althafer, 29, and Brandan Kreeger, 32, both of Roscoe, Ill., have been charged with unlawful use of recorded sounds or images, a class 4 felony, for their involvement in an alleged counterfeit movie scheme.
Nov. 30, Roscoe police, along with personnel from Homeland Security and the Motion Picture Association of America, executed a search warrant in the 5400 block of Presley Place in Roscoe, Ill.
After a search of the residence, officers recovered counterfeited movies from the residence along with packaging materials and other items used for the transport and sale of counterfeited movies. Additionally, Roscoe officers seized more than $30,000 in U.S. currency.
