Man charged with series of residential burglaries, retail theft

Joseph Guerin, 26, of Rockford, has been charged with residential burglary in connection with a series of residential burglaries and a retail theft. He also faces a possession of drug paraphernalia charge after being found in possession of narcotics paraphernalia upon his arrest.
Shortly before 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, Rockford police responded to 112 S. London Ave., in reference to a residential burglary. Officers met with the resident, who advised her residence was broken into and several items taken.
Rockford detectives conducted a follow-up investigation. The facts of the investigation were reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, and a warrant was obtained for Guerin’s arrest.
Shortly before 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, detectives located Guerin in the 1000 block of Loomis Street and took him into custody.
After additional follow-up, Guerin was also charged with burglary for a retail theft incident that occurred at the Road Ranger Store, 3302 11th St., shortly after midnight, Dec. 10. He has also been charged with the residential burglaries at 817 Hartford and 1903 Nebraska.
