Rock Valley College board to consider 500-seat entertainment venue

The Facilities Committee of the Rock Valley College (RVC) Board of Trustees met Monday evening, Dec. 17, and among their discussions was the consideration of the performance venue options for the campus.

The committee will recommend to the entire board that the college architects provide a recommendation and budget estimate for a single, stand-alone 500-seat performance venue to be located near the existing Bengt Sjostrom Theatre and Studio Theatre on RVC’s main campus.

In addition, the architect will be directed to provide recommendations and budget estimates for a renovation or reconstruction of the existing Studio Theatre.

The board’s desire is that the total budget for both projects would not exceed $10 million.
