Artists sought for April 20 ‘Unforgettable Art’
The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, has announced plans for the 10th Annual “Unforgettable Art: An Affair for Alzheimer’s” are under way. This year’s event, which showcases artists creating original works of art while guests watch and enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, will be Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Chicago Rockford International Airport, 2 Airport Circle, Rockford.
The Alzheimer’s Association is seeking artists to participate in the event. Artists interested should submit an application form in addition to slides, photographs or a website portraying their work.
All entries will be juried, and 40 to 50 artists will be selected. The venue opens at noon the day of the event for artists to prepare canvases and begin their artwork. Artists must paint the entire piece onsite.
The Alzheimer’s Association provides acrylic paints of various basic colors, one unframed canvas — artists may resize canvases for smaller paintings, palette knives, water and rags. Artists should provide their own brushes, stools, tables and additional media.
Additional details and guidelines for those interested can be found on the artist application form. To complete an application, due by Jan. 25, 2013, go to alz.org/Illinois and click on “Special Events.”
