15-year-old Guilford student arrested after making false threats of school shooting on Facebook

A 15-year-old Rockford Guilford High School student has been arrested and is charged with a class 4 felony after making false threats of a school shooting that was to occur at the school on either Dec. 20 or 21. The threats were made on Facebook.

Police began investigating the incident after receiving complaints Dec. 19. According to police, the student said she devised the threat to create disruption at the school. She admitted to making the threat and was arrested for disorderly conduct: knowingly causes to be transmitted a threat of violence (class 4 felony).

In a release, the Rockford Police Department said it “takes all threats of violence towards students, staff or property seriously and all cases will be investigated and arrests will be made.”
