Belvidere woman killed while crossing East State Street early New Year’s morning

Rockford police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old Belvidere, Ill., woman who was killed while crossing East State Street in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.

Kelley A. Kroon, of Belvidere, Ill., was killed when she was struck by an armored Garad Security truck while crossing the street in the 6500 block of East State Street around 2 a.m., Jan. 1. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the driver of the armored vehicle has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
