		<description>Mr. Schoonover may well have performed in an adaption of Shirley Jackson&#039;s &#039;The Lottery&#039; in high school, but it should be noted that the original work was a short story, not a play.  

Further, the cant Mr. Schoonover gives to it is more likely derived from his ideological leaning than from any serious critical reading of the story.

For the life of me, I cannot see any relationship the story of a town&#039;s annual stoning of a resident and his assertion that the NRA is a cause of tyrannical rule.  

Such a notion makes for simplistic parables for opinionaires, of course.  Perhaps Victor has worked too long at the Middle School level.

I speak, BTW, as a former High School English Teacher.</description>
