Womanspace has so many programs and classes for women and men to explore wellness and creativity, but we also offer fun times on Saturday mornings for youth, like Psychology for Kids Jan. 19 and Make Valentines Cards Feb. 2. Then, there are opportunities designed especially for girls ages 9-13. You can register your daughter now for Self-Defense for Girls Feb. 16, SpaGirls in March and Intro to Fashion Design in April.

Most Womanspace art classes are also open to teens. There’s a Chalk Pastels class with Danielle Barton, MFA, Jan. 12, and pottery and painting classes start the week of Jan. 14. There are even special Family Artshops on select Saturdays for ages 9 to adult, and five-hour Oil and Acrylic and Drawing Workshops for ages 14 to adult with Dorothy Bock start Jan. 19.

Our next art exhibit, Large Works, opens Jan. 14 with a special public reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25. Come see big art in a variety of media, hear the announcement of the new name of our art gallery, and enjoy refreshments and live music in our updated space. Exhibits and receptions are sponsored by David Boccignone-Ameriprise Financial, and 40 percent of any artwork you purchase benefits Womanspace.

Sandra J. Slaga, Attorney at Law, sponsors our Lunch and Learns, and the first one in 2013 features Martha Logemann of Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging with Free Services for Elders Jan. 16. Then, it’s Options in Divorce Feb. 6 with Sandy Slaga and Deb Aurand. Dr. Shanti discusses methods to reduce joint pain at a rescheduled Osteoporosis Jan. 30. She also leads an hour of deep Meditation Jan. 16, and then every other Wednesday starting Jan. 23. For stretching, toning and relaxation, try Morning or Evening Yoga Flow every Thursday with Keri Knutson.

Women’s Wellness Hour meets Jan. 9, Feb. 13, and every month with Denise Nichols and colleagues from Motivate sharing easy and fun exercises and tips to prevent and treat urinary incontinence. Mah Jong meets monthly, too, with beginners and non-serious players welcome to attend Jan. 23. Supper and Film gathers next Jan. 28 to watch and discuss Cold Mountain. Unique programs abound at Womanspace, including Herbal Medicine with Pat Halverson Jan. 17, a fascinating Archetypes and Art workshop Feb. 2 with Kathy Cox and James Frazier, and A Land Connection with author Don Miller of Severson Dells Feb. 4.

If you’d like to learn more about Womanspace, register now for WomanFest 2013, a FREE breakfast event for men and women Jan. 23 at the Radisson, sponsored by Wipfli Hewins Investment Advisors and Leadership Communication.
