City of Rockford launches interactive map gallery
Staff Report
The City of Rockford has announced the launch of its interactive map gallery on the city’s website, http://rockfordil.gov/.
The launch includes six different maps in the gallery, including the following:
1. Aldermanic Wards
2. Garbage route pickup zones
3. Capital Improvement Projects
4. Zoning Districts
5. Watershed Map
6. Neighborhood Groups and Associations
Each map is designed to be a single-purpose, easy-to-use map for citizens to learn information about their property, their neigborhood and the city. More maps will be added to the gallery as they are developed.
The Winnebago County GIS Consortium (WinGIS) has been a critical partner in the project’s success by providing web application development services. “This project highlights the value of our partnership with the WinGIS organization. Through the collaborative efforts of city and WinGIS staff, this project makes geographic-based information easy for Rockford citizens to access to learn more about their community,” said Glenn Trommels, City of Rockford Information Technology director.
