Documentary film and discussion explore effects of abortion

DURAND, Ill.—A powerful, non-graphic documentary film titled Blood Money will be shown from 6-7:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, at St. Mary Church hall, Durand, Ill., with a discussion afterward. The documentary is appropriate for adults, high schoolers, junior high students with parents, and anyone concerned with the protection of the dignity of life.
Narrated by Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the documentary is nonviolent, non-denominational and seeks only to present a view of abortion from those who provided it and those on whom it was performed.
Through interviews with abortion clinic owners, the documentary explores the incredibly lucrative business of abortion and the tactics used to isolate abortion prospects from their support network and pressure them into having abortion.
With testimony from women who had abortions, it also explores the post-traumatic stress disorders, suicidal depression, inability to feel emotion, and other psychologically devastating effects these women have suffered.
Introduction to the documentary and discussion afterward will be led by Deacon Steve Pulkrabek of St. Marh Church/St. Patrick Church in the hall of St. Mary Catholic Church, 602 W. Main St., Durand. Attendance is free. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, call (815) 248-3166.
