Online Staff Report
The public is invited to attend the grand opening of the new American Legion Robert Carlson Post 1207 in the former LT’s building at 1011 S. Alpine Road, Rockford. The event starts at 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26.
According to Post Commander Richard Rivera: “The grand opening event this Saturday provides us with the opportunity to showcase our new facilities to the public and encourage members of the community to consider joining Post 1207 and supporting the critical work of the American Legion. Most people don’t realize that they might be eligible for membership to one of the three divisions of the American Legion.”
If you OR a family member (grandparents, parents, siblings or children) are CURRENTLY on active duty, serving the United States honorably, ANYWHERE in the world, or if any of your family have served honorably in the past, you are invited to become a member of The American Legion, Sons of the Legion or the American Legion Auxiliary.
After more than 45 years in the same location off Broadway, the Robert Carlson Post 1207 opened a new facility on South Alpine. The new facility can be reached at (815) 397-6672. A complete overhaul and remodel was done on the building’s interior.
The grand opening event starts at 4 p.m. with raffles, games and drink specials, and local musicians Snydley Whiplash Band will entertain those in attendance with country, blues and rock starting at 9 p.m.
Current members of the American Legion are encouraged to attend, and those interested in becoming members of the American Legions, Sons of Legion or the Auxiliary are also welcome.
