Man faces 6-30 years in prison for stealing neighbor’s shop vac

Denzil Radabaugh, 47, was found guilty of residential burglary (class 1 felony) Jan. 24 after a jury trial before Judge Gary Pumilia.
The victim reported to the Rockford Police Department that on April 3, 2012, a shop vac had been stolen from her home. A detective was assigned to investigate the case and developed Radabaugh as a suspect.
Detectives met with Radabaugh April 25, 2012, and he admitted to stealing the shop vac from the victim’s enclosed porch and selling it to an unknown person on the street.
Residential burglary is a class 1 felony with a sentencing range of four to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Based on the defendant’s prior record, he is class X sentencing eligible (six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections — he is not eligible for probation).
Sentencing is at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, in courtroom D before Judge Pumilia.
