Homeless man charged after allegedly stabbing woman in parking lot of North Main Walgreens

Jordan J. Filer, a 20-year-old homeless man, has been charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery with a knife following a Feb. 3 incident at the Walgreens store at 3325 N. Main St., Rockford.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Feb. 3, Rockford police responded to the Walgreens on North Main in reference to a female victim being attacked in the parking lot. The victim advised officers that after leaving the store the suspect attempted to take her bag and stabbed her in the side. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Rockford police detectives conducted follow-up investigation into the incident. Detectives located the suspect, Filer, in the same area where the original incident occurred, and took him into custody.
