Police investigate Feb. 5 death of man on Buchanan Street

Shortly before 8 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, members of the Rockford Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Buchanan Street in reference to a death investigation. Upon arrival, officers observed a deceased white male, since identified as 51-year-old Wade Quam from the Rockford area. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene and took custody of the body.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, an autopsy was conducted by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. The forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy stated the trauma (lacerations) on his head were not his cause of death. Cause of death is pending further toxicology testing.
