‘Explore Invertebrates’ at Burpee Museum Feb. 9

Rockford’s Burpee Museum of Natural History, 737 N. Main St., Rockford, will offer “Burpee Explorers: Explore Invertebrates — Hearts” from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9.
The event is geared toward children age 6 and older, accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration and payment is required by calling (815) 965-3433, ext. 1020. Cost is $18 per child members, $20 per child non-members.
February is Heart Healthy Month. This program offers a chance to learn more about hearts and to see how your own heart functions.
Invertebrates have no bones, but what are their hearts like? Study the hearts of various invertebrates.
Preserved specimens of worms, starfish, squid, grasshopper and other invertebrates will be offered. Compare the systems of these invertebrates with vertebrate hearts.
This class meets the National Science Education Standards for Life Science.
