The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center will present “Irish Pub Night” with Liam O’Riordan and Ger Walsh at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8. This event will take place at the New Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center (formerly First Presbyterian Church), 406 N. Main St., Rockford.
Liam O’Riordan (guitar, percussion and vocals) comes to us directly from Kinsale, Ireland, where he has performed traditional Irish and folk music at all the biggest venues. His loyal fan base of fellow countrymen and tourists has followed him year after year, and some have been known to see his shows four or five nights in a row. Liam has also toured throughout America, Belgium, Holland, Denmark and Germany, and is in high demand for festivals and appearances all over the world.
Liam will perform with his longtime friend, Ger Walsh (guitar, banjo, whistles and vocals), a multitalented musician and former member of the Irish folk group Galleon.
In addition to the music, enjoy traditional Irish fare with a Buffet Pub Dinner provided by Mead’s Longwood Meat Market featuring corned beef sandwiches, shepherd’s pie and skewered vegetables. Relax and enjoy the sounds of Ireland while sipping on beer, wine, soft drinks and Irish coffee at the cash bar.
Tickets are $35 per person or $250 for a table of eight. Reservations are required. Call (815) 964-9713 or e-mail email@example.com to reserve a spot. Seating is limited. All proceeds benefit Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center’s Educational Programs.
