Reboot Illinois holds open town hall meeting Feb. 12

Reboot Illinois will hold an open town hall meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Rockford Public Library’s East Branch, Community Room, 6685 E. State St. All interested area residents are invited to come.
Are you fed up with the lack of progress in Illinois? The state isn’t paying its bills. Corruption is commonplace. We all suffer as job opportunities shrink. Schools face $400 million in budget cuts.
Reboot Illinois is a digital start-up that aims to help Illiois residents retake ownership of their government through news, view and tools centered around state debt, corruption, and improving business and schools. Come hear more about how we all should Reboot Illinois. The program will include a Reboot Illinois video, PowerPoint presentation and audience questions and answers.
Madeline Doubek, Chief Operating Officer, told The Rock River Times, “We are on Facebook, and we have a daily e-mail. What we are doing is aggregating all the great content around the state, focusing on four state issues: (1) state debt; (2) corruption and waste; (3) improving the business and jobs climate; and (4) improving schools. What we do is collect and have one-stop shopping for all the great journalism in the state on these topics, and the original columns and editorials and infographics. In addition to providing all that information, we want to get people engaged and speaking up to our state officials. We believe there is great power in numbers, and if we can get enough people engaged and speaking up, we can improve Illinois… This meeting in Rockford is the first of many we hope to hold around the state.”
