Online Staff Report
The recent winter storm has claimed the lives of three local elderly men, the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office reported Feb. 8.
According to the Coroner’s Office, two men — age 72 and 80 — died after suffering heart attacks while using snowblowers. They were both transported to local hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.
The third person, an 89-year-old man, was found lying in the snow behind his vehicle after it got stuck in the snow. He had apparently gotten out of his vehicle and took a shovel out of the trunk and was attempting to shovel the snow away from his vehicle when he suffered a cardiac event. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
