Valentine’s Day is not just a time to acknowledge romantic relationships. It is also a time to be grateful for the friends in our lives.
Four Rockford women are doing just that. They are celebrating 60 years of friendship this year. Barb Giacone, Janice Howell, Connie Messina and Dotti Saladino met each other in 1953 while attending kindergarten at O.F. Barbour School.
Over the years, the four ladies got married, had children, had careers and then retired. Throughout that time, however, they always made time for each other with monthly potlucks, outings and just getting together for coffee.
This year, they are all turning 65 and have decided to mark this passage with a trip. Although these four friends have not yet decided where they will go, the ladies are certain that, as they look back on their lives, they have been blessed and enriched by their enduring friendship.
Barb, Jan, Connie and Dotti would like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day — and a lifetime of friendships.
