Don Manzullo to be honored at Republicans’ Feb. 16 Lincoln Day Dinner
Online Staff Report
Winnebago County Republicans will gather to celebrate their annual Lincoln Day Dinner Feb. 16 at Cliffbreakers, 700 W. Riverside Blvd., Rockford. Dinner and program will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.
In addition to a vegetarian option, dinner will consist of chicken and filet, salad, side dishes and dessert. This year, a silent auction will take place as part of the evening, while Riley O’Neil will serve as master of ceremonies.
In addition to recognizing local volunteers for their efforts over the past year, the event this year will honor former U.S. Rep. Don Manzullo for his years of public service.
Manzullo represented Illinois’ 16th Congressional District from 1993 until 2013, when re-districting contributed to his defeat in the March 20, 2012, primary to U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger.
Manzullo will be the recipient of a lifetime service award, sponsored by Bruce V. Rauner. Local candidates will make short presentations, but the focus of the evening will be testimonials of Manzullo and his commitment to the community.
“We are excited to be able to honor Don and show him our gratitude for two decades of service as our congressman,” said Jim Thompson, Winnebago County Republican Central Committee (WCRCC) chairman.
With the announcement of this year’s special award recipient, other political dignitaries have also confirmed their attendance. Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives (who served with Manzullo), as well as State Treasurer Dan Rutherford (R), are just two of those planning to attend.
A private reception will be from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m., at which time attendees will be able to speak with those officials and others, as well as obtain a photograph with Hastert and Manzullo. Seating is limited for the private reception, which may be purchased with seating at the dinner event.
Dinner pricing is $60, $100 for reception and dinner (special dinner-only pricing for couples will be $100). Reservations can be made by mail (payable to WCRCC, Box 7543, Rockford, IL 61126) or via the internet at www.wcrcc.com.
For further information about the event, contact the WCRCC at www.wcrcc.com or (815) 387-2874.

Thanks for two decades of nothing, Don.
As I see you leave my only wish is that you would have stuck by the term limit promise you made when first elected. But then again,,,, that would have been the only positive thing you would have done in your twenty years of representing the wealthy and connected in your district. Why spoil a perfect record of doing nothing for the majority of your constituents?
