New book to explore history of NIU Huskies football
DEKALB, Ill. — As Northern Illinois University (NIU) Huskies football fans continue to bask in the glow of the team’s historic New Year’s Day appearance in the 2013 Orange Bowl, the Northern Illinois University Press is adding to the excitement.
NIU Football, a new book by Dan Verdun, is expected to be published in March. Cost will be $28.95.
Kenton Clymer, interim director Northern Illinois University Press, said: “Considering the intense pride and passion surrounding the NIU football team right now, we are sure that many fans in the Huskie Nation will want this wonderful book on their shelves.”
From the school’s first team, led by coach John L. Keith in 1899, to the most recent squad and its unforgettable trip to the 2013 Orange Bowl, NIU Football will dazzle and delight fans of the subject with its irresistible mix of pride and nostalgia.
Lavishly illustrated with photographs from throughout the program’s storied history, and with a foreword by beloved former head coach Joe Novak, Verdun’s book deserves a place in the collection of every football fan ever to sing the Huskie Fight Song.
