Children’s Choir presents ‘Singer Songbook’ Feb. 19 at New Mendelssohn Hall

The Rock Valley Children’s Choir presents the annual “Singer Songbook” concert, “The Rainbow Connection,” at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the New Mendelssohn Hall (formerly First Presbyterian Church), 406 N. Main St., Rockford.

The Rock Valley Children’s Choir will join the After5 Jazz trio in this concert featuring songs to color your world. Brent Blaesing, member of Rock Valley Children’s Choir Encore, will accompany on guitar.

All proceeds from this concert benefit the Rock Valley Children’s Choir Scholarship Fund. Admission is $10 for adults, free for children 10 and younger.

The Rock Valley Children’s Choir was established in 2002 by Leah Baskin and Dean Durst. Beginning as one small choir, the program has grown to four separate choruses, which encompass grades 1-12. The Rock Valley Children’s Choirs formed a partnership with the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center in 2006. The choirs are part of the Community Education division of Rock Valley College.
