‘Engineering a Triceratops’ Feb. 23 at Burpee

Rockford’s Burpee Museum of Natural History, 737 N. Main St., will host “Engineering Day: Engineering a Triceratops” from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23.
Get the jump on National Engineers Week with Burpee’s Engineering a Triceratops. Join in the great debate about the projection of the front legs and feet. This discussion as to the position of the front legs has been at the forefront in the mounting of Burpee’s new triceratops, Homer. Did they turn in or turn out?
Take part in a variety of activities. Engineer and build your own Ceratopsian dinosaur and test its strength. View several Ceratopsian skull casts. Participate in a variety of activities to learn the engineering found in skeletons. Rockford College of Medicine students will be on hand helping to compare the bones of a triceratops to the human skeleton. Talk with an engineer.
The event is free to members and with paid admission ($10 adults, $9 ages 7-17 and free for ages 6 and younger).
