Annual Pomona Grange Chili Dinner & Craft Show Feb. 24

BELVIDERE, Ill. — The public is invited to the Annual Pomona Grange Chili Dinner & Craft Show fund-raiser at the Boone County Community Grange Hall at 8791 Route 76 (the Boone County Fairgrounds) Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Chili Dinner will be downstairs, with tickets being $5 for adults and $3 for children younger 10. Tickets will be available at the door, and carry-outs are available.
The Craft Show will be upstairs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free admission featuring 15 craft vendors with everything from jewelry to rag quilts, candles and more. Plus, drawings for beautiful raffle prizes will be held.
The Pomona Grange Chili Dinner & Craft Show is being put on by the members of the Boone County Pomona Grange. The Pomona Grange is composed of Grange members from the seven local chapters of the Grange in Boone County. These include Beaver Valley Grange, Big Thunder Grange, Capron Grange, County Line Grange, Flora Grange, Leroy Grange and Prairie Grange. There are 500-plus Grange members in Boone County, with 200 belonging to the Pomona Grange.
The money raised will go toward the Pomona Grange’s community service projects. The Boone County Granges own and operate the Boone County Fair and grounds.
The Grange is a national family community-service organization with its roots in agriculture. The National Grange has its headquarters in Washington, D.C., and is the country’s oldest agricultural organization having been founded in 1867. The National Grange has chapters in 25 states and has more than 200,000 members.
