Residents near 1200 block of Holland Street in Rockford evacuate following gas line break

A natural gas line break in the 1200 block of Holland Street in southwest Rockford forced the evacuation of residents in the surrounding neighborhood Feb. 20.
The street has been barricaded, and crews are working to further evacuate residents affected by the break.
Gas service could be affected for as far away as 5 miles from the break.
The gas line may have accidentally been ruptured by a City of Rockford crew working on a water valve in the area.
