Police look for clues in Feb. 25 homicide of 20-year-old Rockford man

At approximately 10:15 p.m., Monday, Feb. 25, Rockford police were called to the emergency room at Rockford Memorial Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim.

According to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, 20-year-old Jimmy Hollins of Rockford was driven to the emergency room and carried into the ER by a person saying he had been shot. Hollins was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m. He died as the result of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Rockford police located the crime scene in the 300 block of Underwood Street. They are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
