Morrissey to deliver State of the City address March 6 at Coronado

Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey (I) will deliver his eighth State of the City address beginning at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, 314 N. Main St., Rockford.
Doors will open to the public at 4 p.m., and admission is free.
The mayor’s speech, “The Pathway to Prosperity,” will focus on the historic spirit of entrepreneurship, which is the hallmark of Rockford’s success — both past and future. The presentation will also include a video created by Pablo Korona.
An Open House will be held in the lobby of the Coronado from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests are invited to learn more about the upcoming municipal programs, economic development initiatives, current and future CIP projects, the upgraded water system, and Rockford Police and Fire recruitment and training, among other informational displays.
The mayor’s State of the City address comes a little more than one month before the Tuesday, April 9, election in which Morrissey is seeking a third term as Rockford mayor. His opponents include Democrat Jim Hughes and Republican Michael Kleen. Morrissey first took office in April 2005.
