Rockford’s Sweden House Lodge building condemned

Rockford’s Sweden House Lodge, 4605 E. State St., has been condemned by the City of Rockford Construction and Development Services Division following a March 7 inspection that found “life safety issues.”

Inspectors noted numerous code violations endangering the life safety of the occupants of the building, including improper plumbing, gas piping, mechanical equipment and the exhausting of carbon monoxide.

The City of Rockford Human Services Department was on scene to aid in the relocation the occupants. The building will remain closed until such time as the property is brought into complete compliance with the City of Rockford Life Safety Codes.
