West State road closures in effect March 11-14

Construction will resume on the U.S. Business Route 20 (West State Street) Sunset Avenue to Kent Creek Water and Sewer Main Reroute Project Monday March 11.
Sunset Avenue between West State and Mulberry streets will experience roadway closures March 11-12 as utility work occurs. Independence Avenue between West State and Mulberry streets will experience roadway closures March 13-14. Central Avenue from Elm to West State streets will be closed to traffic Thursday, March 14, and will be reopened by end of the day. A detour will be in place during the closure.
U.S. Business Route 20 (West State Street) Sunset Avenue to Kent Creek Water and Sewer Main Reroute Project consists of the abandonment of existing water mains, valves, vaults, services and associated appurtenances, construction of 8-inch, 16-inch and 24-inch diameter water main, valves, hydrants, services and associated appurtenances, lining of an existing 24-inch diameter water main with 14-inch and 18-inch HDPE pipe, abandonment of sewers, sewer manhole removals, manhole replacements, construction of 8-inch, 10-inch and 15-inch diameter sanitary sewer and associated services and appurtenances. This is necessary to remove potential conflicts with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s West State Street roadway reconstruction plans.
Water main and sanitary sewer installation is under way starting east of Avon Street and at the intersection of West State and Lakin Terrace.
