Find Your Space: Same space, new faces!
By Liz Kulevich
Womanspace Marketing Coordinator
Greetings from Womanspace!
Spring is such a wonderful time of renewal and revival; the warm sun and the cool breeze, the stirring of all life forms — including us humans! And, just like the trees in the forest surrounding Womanspace, we retain the same grounding and spirit, but we’ve got some new buds! Gale Ketteler, the shining face you’re probably used to seeing on this page every month, has moved on to return to her own roots in broadcasting. We wish her well!
And, it took two of us to replace her! I’d like to introduce myself, Liz Kulevich, as the new marketing coordinator of Womanspace. My cohort, Pat Bonavia, has taken over the role of programming coordinator. We’re working hard on coming up with new and interesting programs for the upcoming spring/summer season and certainly hope to see many of you here! Keep an eye and an ear out for new things and, of course, keep reading the “Find Your Space” column!
But, first things first! We still have some great programs and events coming up to round out the winter. Most exciting is our annual Spring Luncheon Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by Keeling-Puri Peace Plaza; Jerome S. Weiskopf, M.D.; SwedishAmerican Health System; David M. Boccignone — Ameriprise; The Office of Jack W. Lenox, M.D.; Birth That Book — Kelly Epperson; Consultation to Human Systems — Ruth Ora Jackson, N.D., CNHP; and B103 & 100.5 NTA FM.
The theme for the event is Forever Friends, and our guest speaker will be Dr. Ruthellen Josselson, an award-winning psychotherapist, author and internationally-renowned speaker. She will enlighten us on relationships through her insights and anecdotes from her intensive study of girls’ and women’s friendships throughout life. The luncheon also includes a delicious meal while bonding with and meeting new friends and a chance to win one of five fantastic raffle prizes, including a trip to Sedona, Ariz.
We will also be hosting The Pleasures and Perils of Friendship workshop with Dr. Josselson Sunday, April 14, at 1 p.m. The workshop will explore what it means to be, or to have, a good female friend and how women and girls of all ages navigate the difficult times in friendship. It’s sure to be a great learning experience for friends young and old!
Tickets to the luncheon and workshop, as well as raffle tickets, can be purchased here at Womanspace, over the phone or online at www.womanspace-rockford.org.
We’re also very excited about the new exhibit we’ll be installing in our newly dedicated William Reif Gallery! Artists featured in Seasons Run Wild use a variety of mediums to capture the feel of a certain season, whether it’s the robust winter winds, the bursting growth of spring or the blazing colors of autumn. The exhibit, which replaces our current Large Works exhibit, will run from March 15 through May 12, with an opening reception March 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feel free to stop by and peruse some great works from fabulous local artists!
We have a number of other wonderful classes and events left as winter winds down, but unfortunately I’m running out of room to tell you all about them! Please check out www.womanspace-rockford.org for our event calendar and to download our program guide. You can also sign up for Intertwinings, our weekly newsletter, so you don’t miss a thing!
