For the second consecutive year, Cruise, the SwedishAmerican Foundation’s annual fund-raising gala, was a sell-out. More than 500 supporters attended this year’s event March 2 at Giovanni’s, raising more than $135,000. Proceeds of the event benefit the new SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center, which will open in mid-October.
To date, the foundation has raised more than $2 million for the project, which will offer services such as medical oncology, chemotherapy and infusion; advanced radiation therapy; and medical imaging at one convenient location.
Patients will have access to the latest clinical trials offered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition, a full complement of holistic and support services will ensure the very best treatment experience.
“We are very thankful for the confidence the community has in the SwedishAmerican Foundation and the Regional Cancer Center project,” said SwedishAmerican Executive Vice President John Mecklenburg. “The generosity of our donors and sponsors is greatly appreciated.”
The Cruise ’13 committee includes John and Kathy Mecklenburg, Steve Schou, Mary DeMarco, Kay Flodin, Melody Pobjecky, Deborah Johnson, Carol Evans, Michelle Adams and Jan Hagenlocher.
Although Cruise is over, donations can still help SwedishAmerican deliver exceptional care for patients and their families.
