Auburn student faces aggravated battery, resisting arrest charges after fleeing police

A 16-year-old Auburn High School student has been taken into custody by Rockford police after leading officers on a nearly mile-long foot chase from Rockford Auburn High School to the 400 block of Carbaugh Avenue. The chase ended around 9:30 a.m., Thursday, March 14.
Police were seeking the student for questioning regarding an incident from the prior week in which the student punched a fellow student.
The student ran when approached by the principal, school staff and a school police officer. Officers gave chase through a wooded area and into the nearby neighborhood. More officers were called to the scene before the juvenile was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
