Dodge ball teams to help Children’s Safe Harbor

Online Staff Report

Dodge ball team registrations are being accepted for the third annual “I Dodged a Ball for a Kid” dodge ball tournament to benefit Children’s Safe Harbor.

This year, the City of Aurora Fire Department will be returning to defend their first-place title along with the second-place winners, Winnebago High School National Honor Society.

The good-natured, family-oriented tournament will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at Jefferson High School, 4145 Samuelson Road, Rockford.

The event is a 32-team tournament that will be operated in round robin format. Each team will be composed of six to 12 players with six players engaged in competition. The team entry fee is $200, if paid by March 31. Players must be 16 years of age or older.

A silent auction will be held featuring a variety of items. Entry fee to observe the tournament is $2. All proceeds will benefit Children’s Safe Harbor.

Children’s Safe Harbor, inside Rockford’s Patriots’ Gateway Community Center, 615 S. Fifth St., provides a neutral exchange place for families to use when exchanging children for parenting time. The visitation exchange site offers safety and manages potential conflict when parents are exchanging their children for court-ordered visitation.
