Rockford’s Ingrid Dohm exhibits at Monroe Arts Center

Online Staff Report

MONROE, Wis. — March 22-May 3, the Monroe Art Center (MAC) Frehner Gallery presents “The Earth Laughs in Flowers,” a painting exhibit by Rockford artist Ingrid Dohm.

Well known for her signature floral still lifes, Dohm’s body of work spans an impressive array of subject matter such as landscapes, street scenes and portraits, to name a few. The tie that binds this diverse body of work together is the consistent beauty, the lush and vibrant use of color, and the controlled technique that result in the unique elegance of her original artwork.

Also on exhibit at MAC is the work by artists participating in the 26th Annual Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) Competition and Exhibit. Non-professional artists compete in this program hoping to have their work earn a State or Honorable Mention Exhibit Award.

As a WRAP State Award winner, artists are given the opportunity to compete at the state WRAP competition held during September in Madison, Wis. Dohm will serve as judge for the Monroe WRAP competition.

An artist workshop, which is open to the public, will be conducted by Ingrid Dohm from 9:30 a.m. until noon, Saturday, May 4, at the Monroe Arts Center., 1315 11th St., Monroe, Wis. The artist workshop is open to the public, and a at-door workshop fee of $5 is required.

An opening reception for both exhibits is scheduled for 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 22, in Frehner Gallery. Dohm will give a brief gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
