Children’s Choir offers ‘Great American Sing-a-Thon’ April 5

Online Staff Report

The Rock Valley Children’s Choir (RVCC) invites you to join them in a community sing-a-long featuring American classics from our “Great American Heritage Songbook” at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 5, at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center’s Starr Center, 415 N. Church St., Rockford.

When was the last time you have sang songs like “Home on the Range,” “America the Beautiful” or “Let Me Call You Sweetheart”? Now, you can sing these classics and more with the RVCC as they pledge to learn an entire CD’s worth of great American songs. Join them and experience the fun of singing together as members of the choir meet for the “Great American Sing-a-Thon” April 5. If you attend, you receive a free songbook!

In addition to attending this community sing-a-long, the public has the opportunity to sponsor the choir as they learn these songs. Money will help equip the Do-Re-Mi Singers learning center and will also help support the RVCC’s upper choir’s summer tour to the Pacific International Children’s Choir Festival in Eugene, Ore.

This Sing-a-Thon is a way for the members of the RVCC to use their musical talents to earn funds.
