STILLMAN VALLEY, Ill. — Stillman Valley High School fullback and linebacker Zac Hare was a top performer at the Adidas Invitational March 24 at Grand Valley State University in Allendale Charter Township, Michigan.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 240-pound 17-year-old was one of only 300 football players from the Midwest invited to participate in the event.

It was an honor to be invited and test my skills against some of the Midwest’s best high school football players,” the high school junior said. “I have been working hard in the off-season to get ready for college camps in hopes of playing football at the next level. To be a top contender against guys like Jason Cornell (Minnesota) and Jayru Campbell (Michigan), both who have offers from schools such as Iowa, Notre Dame, Alabama and Michigan State, further proves to me that I am ready to play at the next level and motivates me to work even harder to make sure I get there.”

The Adidas Invitational, which historically is a proving ground for Division One football talent, is a one-day event consisting of combine testing and one-on-one drills.

Hare, who was a First-Team All-Conference linebacker and ranked No. 27 in the area’s top 200 rushers in 2012, has also been invited to the Rivals.com Showcase in Chicago May 4 and plans on attending Elite Junior Prospect Days at Drake University and Northern Illinois this spring.

But for now, says Hare, it’s about hitting the books and hitting the weights.

With two months left of my junior year, I am focusing on ending strong academically and preparing myself physically for one-day college recruiting camps this summer,” Hare said. “If you want to play college football, there’s no such thing as an off-season, so I’m pushing myself every day and confident that I’ll be playing on Saturdays some day soon.”
