Dance Company presents ‘Bold Moves’ April 13

Staff Report

Artistic Director Matthew Keefe is redefining Rockford Dance Company (RDC) in the upcoming production of Bold Moves April 13 at the Coronado Performing Arts Center. Show time is 7 p.m.

Through creative collaboration and a focus on contemporary ballet, Keefe will premiere three dynamic dance pieces in a one-of-a-kind concert.

I have a single performance to show Rockford the diversity and talent of Rockford Dance Company, and I don’t want anyone to miss it,” Keefe said. “I want to present something bold to signify a new era for the organization.”

The concert will premiere the following:

• Fatally Unique hip-hop group will battle with RDC dancers to the explosive Rite of Spring score. This provocative original performance will challenge perceptions of diversity, ritual and customs in contemporary society.

• Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” explores the American pioneer spirit through the power of dance.

• The whimsical “Carnival of Animals” will include the Music Academy of Rockford, special guest Paul Logli, and Rosemary Collins for a fun-filled dance premiere.

Tickets ranging from $20 to $42 are available at or at the Coronado box office, (815) 968-0595.
