Dr. Julia’s Inn: Your immune system and pH in water — part one

By Dr. Julia Whipkey-Michniewicz, N.D.

Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine

There is not a day in my office that new clients do not state their cancer has come back. These new clients are very upset, for they were told by their medical doctor just two years earlier that they were cancer-free.

The first question I ask these clients is, “What did you do differently to make sure your cancer did not come back?” They do not know how to answer me. I again repeat my same question, “What did you do differently?” Then, I ask, “Did your medical doctor talk to you about diet? Did your medical doctor talk to you about pH levels? Did your medical doctor talk to you about your sugar levels? Did your medical doctor educate you on the fact that 70 percent of your immune system is in your gut?” They are dumbfounded. Every new client says, “No, I was just told my cancer is gone, and now I am told it is back.”

This is a three-part series about cancer and auto-immune diseases.

In 1999, I was told I had breast cancer, and I was also told by my oncologist if I did not do chemical therapy and radiation, I would never see my son graduate. I have been blessed to see Scott graduate two times, and April 19, I will see him graduate again, when he will be receiving his master of fine arts degree.

The year I graduated from Naturopathic School was the year I found out I had breast cancer. It was God telling me, “Julia, I gave you the tools, now heal yourself.”

I have put my clinical theories together over here in my office, and one big issue that I have put together is the pH factor. There are wonderful books you can purchase that state just what I will be educating you today on pH. I would highly suggest buying these books and educating yourself about what you are putting in your body.

When I work with people who have been told they have an auto-immune issue, it is a must that I educate them about diet, water, raising their body temperature to create a fever and pH levels. With this in mind, I then had to look at the pH levels of water. Everyone knows the pH of foods, but water? Yes, water.

I have done so much research on water and have purchased equipment to test water to see the antioxidant levels and the alkalinity levels. Have you checked your drinking water to see what its pH level is? You would be shocked to know you are drinking acidic water.

How can you possibly get healthy and raise your pH levels when you are flooding your body with acid water? Our city water has a pH of 7, which is neutral, and this is because it is federally regulated by our government. The neutral pH of 7 is because of the lye that is in the water supply, which has a pH of 14. Besides the chlorine and fluoride that is in our water, they again put in lye so it will not rust the pipes.

The following three important qualities are in alkalized water:

1. Antioxidant properties;

2. Alkalinity; and

3. Micro-clustering.

Oxidation is the rust on your car, or when you cut an apple, it is the brown film on that apple. Antioxidants slow this process down. A meter I have purchased shows the oxidation reduction potential (ORP). The water I drink has a 9.5 pH. What is yours? This 9.5 water comes from a unit I purchased called the Kangen unit. Founded in 1974, this technology, through ionization electrolysis, generates different pHs of water. Micro-clustering just means the size of the molecular. The smaller the H2O molecular means better hydration.

With my ORP meter, I show clients what their water reads and what their bottled water reads. Following are just a few of the bottled water readings:

Water pH ORP Price

Perrier 3.4 +457 $3.87

Dasani 4.9 +521 $1.89

Aquafina 5.2 +542 $1.92

Kangen 9.5 -470 $0.06

Now again, you want the ORP to be a negative reading, for this is antioxidation. All positive numbers show the oxidation of the water. We are all educated about drinking one-half of our body weight in ounces, but when we are drinking soft drinks and city/bottled water, this is all acid. How can we ever achieve health this way?

If you are concerned about your water, please make an appointment to bring in a sample to see the health of your water.
