Cleo Johnson, a Rockford resident, enjoys writing about many things. This time, she has chosen to share an experience she has had with some Rockford streets.

STREET LIFE

First

I glance down the street and see

Potholes like stepping

stones

Placed randomly across my path

Daring me to cross them

Second

I slow down to a creeping crawl

Turn, turn, yank the wheel

Trying to avoid

The jaws of the gluttonous Rockford

Platter sized Sink

holes

Third

It doesn’t work — at least two tires

clunk and groan

I ease into another lane

Only to discover another car facing me

As I aim for the

Left side.
