The public has until May 31 to vote in the “Out of the Box Art Contest: Showcasing the Good In Our Community,” on display at CherryVale Mall center court (7200 Harrison Ave.) and The Frame Shoppe at Edgebrook (1641 N. Alpine Road).
CherryVale Mall features the top 30 works created by area fifth-graders, while The Frame Shoppe showcases the top 30 works created by area fourth-graders. Voting is done on site.
The contest aims to highlight the good things occuring in the community. Students were asked to be creative with their work, which was to inspire people about our community. Students could create their own scenic portrait, a favorite park to play in, a monument or sculpture, influential people who live here, cool architecture, favorite restaurant, etc.
On the final day of the contest (May 31), the winners will be tallied and announced for first- and second-place in the following four categories: 1. Most Detailed; 2. Most Original; 3. Most Community Pride; and 4. Most Inventive. Winners will have a press release written about them and a chance to be on the news and/or in the paper.
