Staff Report

Three-time Blues Music Award nominee Ana Popovic is one of the hottest acts in the blues world, and she will be appearing live at Rockford’s Adriatic Live Music Bar at 9 p.m., Friday, May 24.

At 327 W. Jefferson St., the Adriatic has been home to some of the hottest acts in the blues world. This show is also being brought to Rockford by Crossroads Blues Society, the local volunteer blues organization that raises money to conduct Blues in the Schools programs. Crossroads and the Adriatic are partnering to get Popovic to visit Rockford for this one-night-only show.

The Serbian-born blues and rock guitar player has made quite a name for herself since she began her music career in 1995. Formerly based in Amsterdam, Popovic now makes Memphis, Tenn., her home. Her last two albums, Blind for Love and Unconditional, were highly acclaimed and reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Her recent live album, An Evening at Trasimeno Lake, won her several awards, and her brand-new 2013 album, Can You Stand the Heat, is headed to top the charts.

Tickets are limited for this show. Advanced tickets are $20 and tickets will be $25 at the door. Get tickets early, as this show is likely to sell out. Tickets are available through the Adriatic and Crossroads Blues Society. Call (779) 537-4006 for information and tickets.
