‘Dig into Treasure’ at Discovery Center June 28

Discover the ins and outs of searching for treasure at Discovery Center’s “Dig into Treasure” Family Friday event from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, June 28. A variety of special activities will be included with museum admission. For those who want to see the Treasure exhibition, a discounted price of $2 (instead of $4) will be charged.

Use a real metal detector, set your sights on a rainbow, and pan for gold and other treasures in an outdoor Dino Dig Pit. Program a robot probe, learn how to hunt for meteorites, float a boat and learn to use a bull whip. Take part in a museum-wide scavenger hunt. “Dig into Treasure” is sponsored, in part, by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, as well as Powmet and Greenlee.

Discovery Center Museum is inside Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St., Rockford. Admission is $8 adults, $8 children (ages 2-17) and free for museum members and children age 1 and younger. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., daily. Call (815) 963-6769 or visit www.discoverycentermuseum.org.
